Artist Statement:

The friendship I’ve developed with ink, paper, and paint invites me into a potent mystery. I often begin a work with one of my cherished antique flex-nib fountain pens, laying tender ink directly onto the paper. What follows is a process of making that empties me, foretells my future, or delivers dream messages from the subconscious. I use many forms of water based media, and enjoy their unpredictable nature.

Some images emerge as I venture deeper into the pareidolia that fills my daily/nightly forest walks and sky gazing. The drawing and painting move beyond my immediate impressions into a forest of their own, inhabited by creatures, people, and symbols that dwell in what I experience as a liminal—or threshold—space. Rooted in observation, forms are discovered rather than invented.

I welcome the delight of making, marking, and translating these encounters as offerings and insights from unseen realms—messages that support, entertain, and inform not only me, but perhaps you as well. The work asks only for my full presence: to listen, to witness, and to record conversations with creatures, spirits, and the cosmos.

I hope you feel welcome in these intimate spaces where intuition, memory, observation and imagination converge.
